This Year’s Yellowstone Limited Edition Blend will Feature Bourbon Finished in Amarone Casks

Limestone Branch Distillery has announced the release of their annual Yellowstone Limited Edition Bourbon for 2021.

This year’s blend by Master Distiller Stephen Beam features both 7-year and 15-year Kentucky Straight Bourbon, with select barrels of the 7-year finished in Amarone casks. The final blend is bottled at the standard 101 proof for the annual release.

“Amarone is a rich, red wine that – much like bourbon – takes time and patience to craft and requires at least two years in oak casks to age. Finishing select barrels in these Amarone casks brings notes of fresh cracked pepper and tobacco, as well as hints of black cherry, fig and dark chocolate to the classic bourbon notes of caramel, vanilla and hints of citrus,” explained Beam. “With a finish of oxidized fruit, cherry and black currant, this bourbon is reminiscent of pre-Prohibition whiskeys.”

Previous annual releases have included a wine barrel-aged trilogy, a classic 101 proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon, and last year, an Armagnac-finished bourbon. While the Limited Edition Yellowstone is only available once a year, a 93 proof flagship expression with a cream label can be found year-round.

Yellowstone Limited Edition Bourbon 2021 will be available this month for a suggested retail price of around $100.
