The 2020 Yellowstone Limited Edition will Launch with an Updated Label

The 2020 Yellowstone Limited Edition.

Limestone Branch Distillery has announced the 2020 launch of their annual Yellowstone Limited Edition, with an updated in bottling and labeling.

The new release will be a seven-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon finished in French Armagnac casks and bottled at 101 proof.

“When I began working on this limited edition, I knew I wanted to finish our bourbon in a cask and I was looking for one that would add complexity and a dimension that expands the flavor profile,” said Steve Beam, master distiller at Limestone Branch Distillery. “Armagnac is a rustic, full-bodied spirit that contributes dark fruit notes, complementing the vanilla notes in the bourbon. Just like a chef adds spices to enhance flavors, I believe cask-finishing should be similar, where it simply enhances the natural flavors in the bourbon.”

In the new release, the distillery tells us to look for “a soft leather aroma with hints of honeydew melon, vanilla notes on the palate with hints of burnt orange and dried plum.” On the finish we’re told to look for “toasted coconut with lingering oak.”

Past releases have included the 2019 blend of 9 and 12 year bourbon, a trio of wine cask finished bourbons, and more. The bottle and label shape for the 2020 release will differ slightly from years past – instead of a tall wine bottle style with a cardboard tube, the distillery is making the change to a new, rectangular bottle designed by David Cole.

Just 5,000 cases of the 2020 Yellowstone Limited Edition Bourbon will be hitting shelves this September for a suggested retail price of around $100.
