While this year’s inauguration may not have the crowds seen in decades past, Colorado-based The Family Jones has been preparing for this year’s celebration since the last one four years ago.
On January 20th of 2017, the distillery laid down just a few barrels of very special rye whiskey, and now, four years later, will bottle them the morning of January 20th, 2021, spanning the entire term of the outgoing president. The new Inauguration Rye whiskey will be bottled-in-bond, meaning a minimum of four years and exactly 100 proof, and crafted by just one distiller in one distilling season. The label notes its a Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey – a point of pride for The Family Jones.
“Rye Whiskey has been linked to the American presidency since 1797 when George Washington first ventured into distilling,” says the distillery. “One hundred years later, the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 was created to ensure quality and consistency in whiskey. As the new president is sworn in and commits to uphold the highest of standards, we make that same commitment.”
Just 380 bottles of this unique project will be available for $80 each for pickup at the distillery. Link here for more about Inauguration Rye.
