Old Carter Whiskey Co. has announced the release of Bourbon Batch 2, arriving on shelves only in Kentucky this week.
Those looking for a high-end Father’s Day gift will be pleased – Old Carter Bourbon Batch 2 is a blend of just nine barrels of 10 to 12 year old bourbon. It has a mash bill of 84 percent corn, 8 percent rye, and 8 percent malted barley, and is bottled at a barrel proof 106.9.
Tasting notes provided by the brand tell fans to look for “a nose full of warm pie crust and caramelized brown sugar pears” that opens up to “a mouthful of cocoa dusted candied walnuts and plenty of baking spices and toffee, all sitting neatly on a leather saddle,” with a viscous, buttery, and lively mouthfeel.
“Mark and Sherri Carter of Old Carter Whiskey Co are passionate about creating full-bodied, cask strength spirits that showcase the things they both love: aromatics, flavor, power and finesse,” said the Carters in a press release. The couple launched the brand together in 2018, bottling small batch, limited release blends only for Kentucky.
This new release follows three batches of rye, five of American Whiskey, and one of Bourbon. The Carters tell us we’ll see Rye Batch 4 before the year is over, as well as a few surprises that the brand hasn’t yet announced.
Just under 1,500 bottles of Old Carter Bourbon Batch 2 will be available this week only in Kentucky for a suggested retail price of around $180. Link here for more on the brand.
