Bob Dylan whiskey brand Heaven’s Door Spirits has announced two limited edition whiskeys arriving in 2019. The last portion of their 10-Year Tennessee Bourbon will hit shelves soon, and the first release in their “Bootleg Series”—a 25-year-old finished whiskey—will ship later this year.
The brand teased the new series in a press release earlier today. The first member of the Bootleg Series will be a 25-year-old whiskey finished in rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks. Mizunara oak must wait a minimum of 200 years before they can be harvested for casks, making them incredibly difficult to come by.
Heaven’s Door Spirits already boasts two double barreled whiskeys in their permanent line: a double-barreled bourbon, as well as a straight rye whiskey finished in French “cigar” barrels. We won’t see the Bootleg Series arrive until the holiday season of this year, but we’ll have more information (and a photo) in the coming months. We do know it will have a suggested retail price of around $500.
But there’s more to come. While the first bottles of Heaven’s Door 10-Year Tennessee Bourbon hit last fall, a second batch, blended from just two barrels, is arriving this year.
This low-rye bourbon is mellowed over sugar maple charcoal before being barreled, aged for 10 years, and bottled at 100 proof. Each bottle will come packaged in a commemorative box, with a replica of Bob Dylan’s original hand-typed lyrics of “Maggie’s Farm” and “Subterranean Homesick Blues.”
“We are excited to offer whiskey enthusiasts the last remaining bottles of Heaven’s Door 10-Year Tennessee Straight Bourbon,” said Master Blender Ryan Perry. “The reaction to our first release was so positive, we felt we had to bring it back one last time.”
This release will hit shelves in limited quantities soon for a suggested retail price of around $130, but you can pre-order it now here.
