The good news we all needed for 2020 is here – for the first time ever, Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon will hit shelves in all 50 states.

The annual high proof release for the brand has arrived every fall since 2012. It’s the only time each year the brand releases their flagship port wine barrel-finished bourbon at any proof other than their classic 86.6. This year’s release will clock in at a robust 120.6.

On the nose, the distillery tells us to expect “notes of apricot and plums, baking spices, brown sugar, vanilla, oak and leather. Bing cherry is heavy on the nose and carries through to the taste.” On the palate, “juicy Bing cherries shine through, along with notes of salted chocolate, orange peel and some cedar.” At the tail end, there’s a “tannic finish that’s complemented by citrus, is not bitter or too drying and lingers at the back of the mouth.”

The release marks another high point for the distillery this year, hot on the tail of their hugely successful Toast the Trees program, a social media campaign that planted 50,000 oak trees. Earlier this fall, the distillery announced the first release in their Angel’s Envy Founder’s Collection, a Mizunara oak finished bourbon, to critical acclaim.

About 17,400 bottles of Angel’s Envy 2020 Cask Strength will hit shelves across the country beginning November 1st, including a limited amount to be released at Angel’s Envy’s distillery in downtown Louisville at a suggested retail price of around $200. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
