Jim Beam Distilling Co. has announced the return of Basil Hayden’s 10 Year Bourbon for the third year running.

This annually released expression is a well-aged version of the distillery’s standard 80 proof Basil Hayden’s high rye bourbon. The 10 Year release maintains the same sippable 80 proof with a few extra years of aging.

“Basil Hayden’s 10 Year Bourbon is a truly unique expression that offers the perfect blend of our whiskey’s trademark spice, balanced with a caramel sweetness and oak as a result of the extra aging in American Oak Barrels,” said Jon Marks, Brand Director for Small Batch Whiskey at Beam Suntory in a press release. “This annual release offers something special for our fans to share with family and friends as they gather in a socially safe way.”

Tasting notes from the distillery describe “big oak, hints of char, vanilla and rye” on the nose, “oak balanced by caramel sweetness and rye spice” on the palate, and a finish that’s “lightly smoky with a hint of char.”

Basil Hayden’s 10 Year Bourbon is the first bourbon addition to the Basil Hayden’s flagship bourbon, but there are also a handful of other limited release whiskeys in the 80 proof family. Basil Hayden’s Caribbean Rye (with a bit of rum in the mix), Basil Hayden’s 10 Year Rye, and more.

Basil Hayden’s 10 Year Bourbon is hitting shelves this month nationwide for around $70.
