A Brand New Pappy Van Winkle Exhibit is Open Now at the Frazier History Museum

The Frazier History Museum in Louisville, Kentucky, has announced the opening of a new Pappy Van Winkle exhibit, showcasing over 500 keepsakes and bottles donated by the Van Winkle Family.

The museum is already known for outstanding bourbon exhibits like The Spirit of Kentucky, and as a starting point for those beginning their whiskey travels at the Bourbon Trail Welcome Center. The new Pappy Van Winkle exhibit, though, will highlight the history of the most popular luxury brand in bourbon in the world.

“On display are several personal items that belonged to Pappy — including his walking cane, two of his golf clubs, and his cigar table, the feet of which are carved to resemble his boots — as well as original photographs and photo albums, hand-written letters, newspaper columns, distillery tour brochures, holiday recipe booklets, minutes from W. L. Weller & Sons’ first stockholders and board of directors meetings, 1908; and an original copyright certificate for Old W. L. Weller Bourbon, 1914,” says the museum.

Also on display is a selection of rare and vintage decanters and bottles of bourbons and rye whiskeys on loan from Julian Van Winkle III, including bottles of Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve (15-, 20-, and 23-Year editions), Old Rip Van Winkle, Old Fitzgerald, Very Very Old Fitzgerald, Very Xtra Old Fitzgerald, Weller’s Antique Reserve, W. L. Weller’s Cabin Still, and Mr. Weller’s Pure Limestone Water.”

A barrel sample taken from the 500,000th barrel produced at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery will be available for guests to view – although they sadly won’t be able to sip. But the museum has added other new ways to enjoy all the bourbon history and information they have to offer.

If you’re looking for a group rate for you and your crew to enjoy the museum, we recommend the all new Tiny Tours & Tastings. For just $10/person for a minimum of 8 people, you and your friends can get access to the entire museum, as well as an opportunity to see KentuckyShow!, various tours, gallery highlights, a 10% discount in the Museum Store, and free parking. Starting at just $10/person, guests can also choose to add on a bourbon tasting.

The Pappy Van Winkle exhibit will run at the Frazier History Museum from July 9, 2020 to July 2021 – link here to get your tickets and plan your trip.
