Sweaty palms, weak knees, and butterflies in your stomach – is it the flu, or the feelings? Symptoms can be hard to tell apart, especially when Valentine’s Day comes around. Don’t worry, though – if you’re falling in love this February, “Caught Feelings,” developed by Beth Burrows, is your cure.
“We all know the Southern Remedy when you catch a cold, right? Nothing quite hits the spot like a Hot Toddy,” explains Burrows, Beam Suntory’s American Whiskey Ambassador of Kentucky. “So what is one to do when they catch the dreaded…feelings? Well, I’ve got just the cocktail to ease that fall-in-love-phase.”
Burrows, who has been in her role since 2016, travels the country (and sometimes the world) spreading the good word of Jim Beam. “I am trusted to create programs, events, and cocktails aligned with the spirit of our spirits! I pinch myself daily – this job is an absolute dream come true and I am thankful every day for the opportunity to represent the American Whiskeys of the James B. Beam Distilling Co.”
“The “Caught Feelings” cocktail is a fun take on the Toddy, served cold (like your eventual revenge), and best sipped when that special someone makes your heart skip a beat,” she says. “I chose Knob Creek Small Small Batch because I knew it would stand up to the All Spice Dram while allowing the delicate flavor of the Earl Grey Simple to still shine through…And let’s face it- the Knob Creek family always makes for a great cocktail base!”
Ingredients
1.5 oz Knob Creek Small Batch
.75 oz All Spice Dram
.75 oz Earl Grey Simple
.25 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
Instructions
Add ingredients to shaker with ice and shake gently. Pour with ice into Collins glass. Garnish with clove-studded orange peel. Please drink (and date) smart!
(For Earl Gray Simple, steep 2 cups of hot water with 6 earl grey tea bags for 15-20 minutes. Add 2 cups of refined sugar, stir, and wait to cool.)
