Big Ticket Bourbon Bottles up for Auction at 21c’s No Kid Hungry Dinner

Fallen Fruit: The Practices of Everyday Life (American), “It Happens To Everyone Some Day / The Last “Gay” Bar In America”, 2016

Proof on Main at the 21C Museum Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky is hosting a multi-course dinner to support No Kid Hungry – and auctioning off some big name bottles in the process.

No Kid Hungry, a Share our Strength campaign to end childhood hunger in America, is paring up with some of the country’s top culinary talent in 15 cities across the country. On Thursday, August 8th, at 6 pm, at they’ll bring the fundraising efforts to Kentucky.

The dinner, which is being hosted by Proof on Main Head Chef Jonathan Searle, will include courses from five guest chefs. Andrew McCabe of bar Vetti in Louisville, KY, Ouita Michel of Holly Hill Inn in Midway, KY, Travis Milton of Shovel and Pick in Bristol, VA, Newman Miller of Star Hill Provisions at Maker’s Mark in Loretto, KY, and Ryan Santos of Please in Cincinnati, OH will all be in attendance.

While the cause (and the food) will be reason enough to attend the No Kid Hungry Dinner, guests will also have the option to bid on rare bourbons in the silent or live auction. Proof on Main is dipping into their bottle reserves from their 21c Selects program for one top shelf lot – a 4-year Willett Family Estate Bourbon, 5-year Willett Family Estate Bourbon, and a 14-year Willett Family Estate Bourbon will all hit the auction block. Better yet, each of the bottles will have a sister bottle chosen by Willett from the same year, with a rye added in to round out the group up for grabs.

Michter’s Distillery is bringing another big ticket basket – a VIP tour for four at their newly opened Fort Nelson Distillery in downtown Louisville. In addition to the tour, winners will get a night’s stay at 21c, a bottle of Michter’s Bourbon, Michter’s Rye, Michter’s 10-Year Single Barrel Bourbon, and Michter’s 10-Year Single Barrel Rye.

The biggest lot of the live auction will come from the host himself. Head Chef Jonathan Searle is auctioning a private dinner cooked in your home and prepared by himself with Preston Van Winkle. Van Winkle will be bringing along four bottles from his personal collection of Pappy to pair with your food – Old Rip Van Winkle 10-Year, Van Winkle Special Reserve 12-Year, Pappy Van Winkle 15-Year, and Pappy Van Winkle 20-Year.
