Maker’s Mark has announced the arrival of a limited edition Maker’s 46 Cask Strength, a barrel proof expression of their popular 94 proof finished bourbon.
The distillery introduced Maker’s 46 in 2010 as the first new expression ever for the brand, setting the stage for the Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing Series by using seared French Oak staves to add another layer of flavor to their popular wheated recipe bourbon. Ever since, they’ve expanded their offerings through Maker’s Mark Private Select, allowing bars, restaurants, and bourbon groups to choose from a variety of staves to finish as they see fit. Last year, the distillery also introduced Makers RC-6, the first-ever limited edition expression from the brand in their Wood Finishing Series.
This summer, they’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of Maker’s 46 Cask Strength. Bottled at 109.6 proof, this will be only the second barrel proof release from the brand. As with all Maker’s Mark expressions, it will be made with the distillery’s classic wheated recipe.
“This limited release, previously only available in small quantities at our National Historic Landmark distillery, represents the purest expression of the bold taste that has made our original Wood Finishing Series Bourbon so beloved,” said Rob Samuels, Managing Director of Maker’s Mark in a letter to fans. “It’s as close as you can get to sampling Maker’s Mark 46 right out of the barrel in our limestone cellar.”
Maker’s 46 Cask Strength will be arriving on shelves around the country soon in limited quantities.
