Lost Prophet Whiskey

The Orphan Barrel project continues to innovate, with their latest release of Lost Prophet Whiskey.

The other three variants include Barterhouse, Old Blowhard, & Rhetoric. This 22-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey comes with a story.

The Lost Prophet Whiskey stock was distilled in 1991 in Frankfort, KY, at what was then the George T. Stagg Distillery and found in the old Stitzel-Weller Warehouses in Louisville. The whiskey is hand-bottled in Tullahoma, TN; which is the headquarters for the Orphan Barrel project. The mash bill is 75-78% corn, 7-10% barley and 15% rye.

The product fact sheet notes that the “deep black label and embossed gold design elements beautifully showcase the ‘lost lamb’ and offer contrast to the beautiful amber liquid in the bottle.” The typography, borders & design of the packaging is consistent with previous Orphan Barrel releases and is reminiscent of something lost, or forgotten. Being almost familiar, it speaks to an overall aim of the project – which is finding old barrels and doing limited releases.
