Park City, Utah’s High West Distillery recently released its annual Midwinter Night’s Dram which has acquired a following over the years. This year’s release marks the 10-year anniversary of the expression, with this bottle being dubbed Act 10.
High West takes its Rendezvous Rye whiskey expression and finishes it in ruby and tawny port barrels. Some details about the liquid are below:
- Mashbill: blend of 95% rye, 5% barley malt from MGP and 80% rye, 20% malted rye from High West distillate
- On the nose (Brand Provided): Ripe marionberries, smashed plums, blood orange peel, Saigon cinnamon, heavily toasted Oloroso Sherry cask, leather- bound books
- Tasting notes: Blackcurrant jam, tart cherry crumble on a cedar plank, rose and pistachio pavlova, dark rye bread, candied ginger, Stilton blue cheese, smoked applewood
- ABV: 49.3%
- SRP: $150 nationally, $125 in Utah
