This Bourbon and Bubbles Cocktail is Perfect for Sunday Brunch

The Lady Trudy blends Old Forester Bourbon and Brut for a fresh take on a Seelbach that's perfect for brunch.

Waking up on a warm Sunday morning with nothing to do? This summery take on a French 75 takes your brunch cocktail to the next level with a perfect blend of bourbon and brut. Just add pancakes and any lazy morning feels special!

The Lady Trudy, created by Old Forester Master Taster Jackie Zykan, has a citrusy mimosa feel amped up with a spicy ginger kick. With only four simple ingredients (that you can easily put together even if you’re in dire need of hair of the dog), this bubbly brunch cocktail might be the best way ever to start your Sunday.

Ingredients

1 oz Old Forester Classic 86 Proof
0.5 oz Grapefruit Juice
0.5 oz Ginger Syrup*
Top with Korbel Brut

Instructions

Shake first 3 ingredients with ice. Double strain into flute or champagne coupe. Top with Korbel Brut. Garnish with lemon or grapefruit peel.

*Ginger syrup can be made at home by adding equal parts water and sugar and 3/4 part chopped fresh ginger root to a small saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let simmer for 30 min, then strain and cool before using. Bonus tip – fresh ginger can help cure nausea… just in case that’s what you need on a Sunday morning.
