Blanton’s Straight From the Barrel is Coming to Shelves in the U.S.

Just months after Buffalo Trace Distillery announced they’d be sneaking a small allocation of Blanton’s Gold out to the U.S., they’ve promised another rare annual single barrel release with Blanton’s Straight From the Barrel.

“Blanton’s continues to be one of our most sought after bourbons,” said Kris Comstock, senior marketing director. “Fans in the U.S. have asked us to make Straight From The Barrel available here at home, so we’re happy we’re able to accommodate that starting this fall.”

The Blanton’s line shares the same Buffalo Trace Mash Bill #2 recipe across the board, but the bottle usually found in the U.S. is a standard 93 proof, while the export Blanton’s Gold is slightly higher at 103 proof. As the name would suggest, Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is barrel strength, uncut, unfiltered, high-rye goodness. Proof will vary from barrel to barrel, but is generally above 120.

While Blanton’s Gold and Blanton’s Straight From the Barrel can be found abroad year round, fans will be able to differentiate the releases by bottle size. Blanton’s found overseas will be 700 ml, while domestic releases are 750 ml.

Tasting notes for Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel describe it as notes of dark chocolate, caramel and butter with earthy undertones of walnut and hazelnut on the nose.  The palate delivers intrepid notes of warm vanilla, oak, toasted nuts and a rich spiciness with hints of butterscotch or honey, with a deep and resonate finish.

A small allocation of Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel will be released every fall in the U.S. beginning this year in 2020 for a suggested retail price of $150.
