Stolen Bourbon Suspect Arrested

At a press conference in Kentucky, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office announced it had arrested a suspect in the theft of five Bourbon barrels from Wild Turkey Distillery in Anderson County, Kentucky.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton disclosed he was tipped off via a text message about the suspect in custody, Gilbert Thomas Curtsinger.  He faces four counts of poseessing a controlled substance (anabolic steriords), buying/possessing of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property exceeding $10,000.  They are also pursuing a second suspect.

Police recovered five barrels of Bourbon that were taken from Wild Turkey Distillery are worth between $3,700 to $6,000 apiece.

According to police, the suspect also worked at the loading dock area at Buffalo Trace Distillery, located in Franklin County.  Several cases of the rare Pappy Van Winkle whiskey line were reported stolen in October of 2013, and no one has yet to have been charged in that theft.
