Malone’s Steakhouse and its adjacent property Drake’s are located just minutes from downtown on Tates Creek Road (KY 1974) in the Lansdowne Shopping Centre.

“Malone’s is a prime steakhouse,” operating partner Josh Morris explains. “We serve our customers prime beef that is considered to be the top 1½ to 2 percent of beef served in the world.”

“Drake’s is what you could call a hybrid pub-club,” Josh says. “In Drake’s we have great bar food, 30 draft beers and nearly the same number of bourbons that range from Maker’s Mark to smaller distilleries like Rockhill Farms as well as several single barrels.”

To that end Malone’s and Drake’s have teamed up with Maker’s Mark in creating “The Big Lex” for the World Equestrian Games.

“We held a contest among all our servers and bartenders,” Josh explains, “with the winner having their cocktail selected as the signature drink for the Maker’s Mark Bourbon Village at the Equestrian Games.”

What exactly is in a “Big Lex”?

“It’s truly a Kentucky beverage,” Josh says. “It’s Maker’s Mark plus Kentucky Proud blackberries and strawberries which we make into an infused simple syrup; then we add a squeeze of orange plus a squeeze of lemon and a little 7 UP.”

Malone’s and Drake’s in Lansdowne are just two of the properties under the Bluegrass Hospitality Group’s umbrella. There are two more Malone’s locations in Lexington. One is in the Hamburg Pavilion and the other is in the Palomar Centre.
